For video encoding, OBS is capable of using the x264 free software library Intel Quick Sync Video and Nvidia NVENCto encode video streams into the H.264/MPEG-4 AVC format. Experimental support for AMD VCE encoding was added in OBS Studio version 0.16.0. Audio can be encoded using either the MP3 or AAC codecs.

OBS Supported Operating System
The Windows release of OBS Studio supports Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10.
The macOS release of OBS Studio supports macOS 10.10 and newer.
The Linux release is available officially for Ubuntu 14.04 and newer. FFmpeg is required.
For Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, FFmpeg is not officially included so you will need a specific PPA:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kirillshkrogalev/ffmpeg-next
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ffmpeg
For Ubuntu 15.04 and following versions, FFmpeg is officially included:
sudo apt-get install ffmpeg
After installing FFmpeg, install OBS Studio using:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:obsproject/obs-studio
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install obs-studio
